Visitin' The Kinfolk

Nancy and I took a chance that Bob and Jan would be home this past Wednesday afternoon, and they were!  I had the molasses cookies in hand to drop off and they graciously invited us in.  We had such a great time visiting with them!

We caught up on family---mostly talking about everyone's ailments. (Guess this is what you do when you are all senior citizens---oops, sounds like a Geico commercial, ha).

I think you'll agree that they both look great!

Jan showed us the Thomas Kinkade puzzle that they just finished.  It was a tough one to do---and two pieces were missing from the box . . .
(yes, it was brand new).
I think puzzles are a great idea and may just get one for myself.

TECH TIME
I ended up giving Jan a lesson on her iPad!  This came about after she saw me using my iPad to take pictures.  Jan has an iPad but never used it for photos, so I showed her how.
Now comes the fun part.   I showed her how you can switch the camera from front to back.  So we decided to take a SELFIE.

We were all laughing so hard as we tried to squeeze into the photo! As you can see, unlike the Kardashians and other "beautiful people," I do not spend a lot of time taking selfies, but this sure was fun!!!

Not Forgotten

I just have to mention our Uncle David and how much we miss him!
He always had FOX News on when we went to his house, and this political season he would have plenty to say!!
This picture was taken when he Skyped Nancy and me last March.  He still had his sense of humor, getting up from the computer to
get his St. Patty's Day hat.
You still bless our hearts, dear David!

What's Cookin'

Mary Ann told me that Linwood loves to cook, and she loves to bake.  So they make a perfect kitchen couple.

Lin's traditional New Year's Eve meal---steak and lobster.

The next FOOD NETWORK star!

Dessert provided by Mary Ann.  I'm sure you know what it is!

Have a great weekend!

C.S. Lewis

“Aslan" said Lucy "you're bigger".
"That is because you are older, little one" answered he.
"Not because you are?"
"I am not. But every year you grow, you will find me bigger".”

Keepin' Busy

Making Mom's soft molasses cookie recipe today (Tuesday).  Nancy and I hope to visit Bob & Jan tomorrow.  It is something we always say we want to do but never get around to it!

Parchment paper is a baker's best friend!

                                                                 Quality control

Just like a little kid, I love stickers.  I put a winter-type sticker on the waxed paper and then insert it into a baggie.  Ready for delivery!

HEE-HAW!

   Linwood -
Lock & load!                                                Nancy -
                                                                 (She likes to be
                                                                   comfortable!)

          How to live yer life:

                            Tommy and his "Opryetta!"
. . . you  don't know what an opryetta is?  Really!

Tommy has worked on this, off and on, for a number of years.  After much tweaking, it is  done!
He was kind enough to send me a copy to read (and proof, ha).  It is a play/musical about people from the northeast, west and midsection of the country retiring to Arkansas---the deep south---and being hit with culture shock.  It is hilarious and uplifting at the same time.

Tommy hopes that one of the many "arts and entertainment groups" in retirement communities in the south, preferably Arkansas, will perform his opryetta.

Hope this dream comes true for you, Tommy!
PS:  I will be passing on my copy to my sibs to read.

That's all for now, folks!   Have a good day!

Tis the Season

Super Bowl and Politics!

Yay!  Don't want to offend anyone, but I'm so happy Peyton and the Broncos won last night!  He is such a class act, and I would love to see him go out as a champion.

I hear from Cathy that Matt may be on the Trump detail, so we will all have to watch for Matt on TV.  As many of you may remember, Matt was on the Clinton detail for a number of years.
                                     **************

Tommy and Judy went to visit Sister Scholastica in December.
I have to say that the convent decorates for the Christmas Season and gets into the spirit in an extraordinary way!  There are decorations everywhere!
Notice the table---they all have Christmas mugs.  Now that is the sign of a real lover of Christmas (and coffee lover, too:)

Tommy is lookin' good.  We are all praying for you, Tommy!

Sunday night treat
I decided to make an individual apple crisp on Sunday, to enjoy during the AFC Championship game.

I didn't use a recipe.  I just went by memory (for the topping---little flour, oatmeal, cinnamon, brown sugar and butter).  Cortland and Granny Smith apple.

It turned out to be more than one helping.  Yummy and hot and delicious topped with some Hagen Das vanilla bean ice cream!  (I confess I added more ice cream after I took this picture).

BLIZZARD

It's Monday, post blizzard, and Steve and family are home in NJ digging out.

While dad worked, Andrew used the snowman family kit I got him for Christmas.

Dinner tonight

I love making pizza with Naan bread!  The crust is crispy and it is just right for one person.  Yes, I eat it all.

Lastly, since the New Year, I have been trying very hard to make time for daily devotions every morning.  One book of the Bible I read over and over and over is Psalms.  It never fails to give me hope and comfort and peace.

Psalm 139 is one of my favorites and I often read it in addition to my other readings.

Have a great week!

I'm Back . . . for now.

Winter means extra time on your hands, so I'm resurrecting my family blog.

Yeah, I know

is all the rage, but I don't care.  I will chronicle the mundane things that I do, here in the Southern Tier, with my sisters.

Here goes with my first, super-exciting post!

January 22, 2016.  Been cooped up most of the week, so Nancy and I headed to the mall and plazas in Horseheads.
I'm on a budget, but I had a couple of gift cards burning a hole in my wallet!
Bed, Bath, & Beyond here we come!!!

                                                                   Useful stuff!

We didn't purchase these Star Wars:  "The Force Returns" items, but they sure were cute!

Shopping always tires us out, so we headed to Cracker Barrel for lunch.
Burdocks along the road near CB parking lot.

We love the  mini fruit cobblers  . . . just a few bites and our craving for dessert is satisfied.

Now for the CRACKER BARREL shop!

I found a coloring book!  It is not as intricate and detailed as most of the ones now in stores, and that   is why I chose it.
I haven't started coloring yet, but I will show you how I do in a future post.

Now for a few pics from this past year

Okay, this is more tiring than I remembered!  First post done.
