Zumba!

Nancy and I attended one of Lacey's ZUMBA classes this past Saturday.  We wanted to see what it was like, and to see Lacey in action!
*If you do not see  movies below on your mobile device, you will have to use your laptop or desktop.

Lacey is teaching and Erin is in the class.

Lacey needs to teach
Zumba GOLD for us.

Nancy and I moved to the music as best we could,
taking breaks.  It was so much fun watching the
routines.

Erin is a newbie, but doing very well.

First Lawn Cutting of Summer 2016!

Barry brings out the big gun mower for this job!

First ice cream cone of the season.

Jeff's in-laws are in Germany right now.  Here
they are with Catherine.  She had to have
her reindeer purse with her!
(Jeff posted this on Facebook.)

Flowers of Spring

Judy's sister and brother-in-law left for Tennessee after visiting
T & J for three days.

Those of you who play in the Allen Family March Madness
tourney will recognize Fred and Marilyn from their participation
in the tournament for many years.  I still think of them
as Volvo Fred and Nurse Marilyn
(their tournament names a few years
back).
*****************

After their guests left, it was time to "smell the roses":

Presently, we don't have much in the way of flowers here in Western NYS.  So when Tommy sent these pictures today, it was like a breath of spring.

In Texas, tours of the Bluebonnet trails are an annual event and very popular.  Judy took this tour and the pictures are wonderful.

Don't you wish you could step right into this scene?
Judy and Tommy look great.

The colors are wonderful.  Thanks for sharing, T & J!

Helping the Helpless

The Finger Lakes SPCA is located right here in Bath, NY.
It is housed in a very humble facility . . . old, cramped and, frankly, depressing.
Thankfully, due to a capital campaign and matching grant, a new facility is under construction right now.

The success of this endeavor has been helped along by a
little book:

The letter "y" in Willy is the shape of Keuka Lake

Click on this link to hear the story of this book and the FLSPCA.

Partial view of what the new facility will look like.

Today, Friday, Nancy picked me up and we drove the short distance to the FLSPCA to drop off our garbage bags full of refundable bottles and cans, one way they raise money.
This is one of the volunteers who sorts the cans and bottles . . .
you have to be dedicated to do this job.

Then Nancy and I went inside to give our donations and
get our very own book.

Come on, Nancy.  You can add at least two more zeros!

Giving is always better than receiving, although we were so happy to
have our book!

Have a great weekend!

Cool, Crisp & SUNNY!

It was all blue sky and sunshine today. A perfect day for

                                  Sisters' Day Out.

First stop: shopping for summer stuff.

So many choices.

If you want to get noticed, buy this!

It's the dressing room (in case you were wondering).
Nancy was in there a long time:)

Getting coupons in order.

Ready for checkout.

Cathy loves her new iPhone.
She's showing Patty pics of
her grandchildren.

Lunch:  We love this little place
on the main street of Arkport!

This is a huge piece of bacon
in my yummy BLT.

Cathy took a selfie of us all.
We always laugh.

This is a note I received from Tommy: -  Picture (below) taken yesterday at the Geo. Bush (43) Library in Dallas (on the Southern Methodist University grounds).  Judy's sister Marilyn and husband Fred are here for a 3-day-visit and that's one of the sights they had hoped to see.  At any rate, on the recommendation of a friend of Judy's who's a docent there, they made reservations for lunch in the Library restaurant.

After 2+ hours of touring the Library they went to lunch...  they were, for whatever reason, taken thru the first, large dining area to a second, more private one...  they were the only ones in there when seated (it was 11:45-ish).  After they had ordered,  their waiter said "You didn't hear it from me, but Laura Bush will be dining here for lunch."  Sure enough, shortly after they had ordered, the waiter walked by and gave the a "Shh" sign;  secret service came in and stationed themselves at the door, and in came Laura Bush with two ladies and a man and were seated at the adjacent table!!!  As they were seated Laura said a friendly "Good Morning"...  and everyone went about their business... Judy, et. al., totally respected their privacy ... didn't bother them, and both tables had their own conversations... no gawking, or request for a picture, etc.  However... Fred (Judy's brother-in-law), who was facing their table was able to surreptitiously get a snapshot on his phone.  Long story, but they were thrilled and couldn't wait to tell me.  Thought you might get a kick...
Tom

. . . Yes, I did enjoy it very much, Tommy.

Judy's brother-in-law discretely took this photo of the former
First Lady.

Okay, some of the siblings want "equal" time.  So here I am
with Hillary at the Clinton Library, in Little Rock.  (2006??)

I made my favorite applesauce cake and
shared it with Nancy and Barry.
Every time I make it I think of the quote below:

"It wouldn't be Christmas without Livvy's applesauce cake..."

Do you know where this quote comes from?!

An Almost Boring Post

Lacey ---ZUMBA instructor:

This is the NON-Boring part.

Lacey says:  "Last Saturday both Tara (who recently  became a Licensed Zuma Instructor) AND Erin came to my class in Bath. Tara led 2 songs on her own :-)"
(TARA is Renee's daughter and Erin is Cathy's daughter---she is 4th from the left in second row.)

                                                                        April 2, 2016
Great to see family having fun together.  Tara is currently studying
Dance Therapy at Monroe Community College, so this is right up her alley.  Check out Lacey's Zumba page.

My day running errands around the village of BATH, NY.

*Yup, this is the BORING part.

I'm sure many of you have read at least some of Jane Austen's novels.

Jane Austen's Bath:
Jane Austen knew Bath as a thriving spa resort, popular with fashionable society.

In "Northanger Abbey" Jane writes;
'They arrived in Bath. Catherine was all eager delight; - her eyes were here, there, everywhere, as they approached its fine and striking environs, and afterwards drove through those streets which conducted them to the hotel. She was come to be happy, and she felt happy already'.

And if you have read "Persuasion," or seen the movie, you know that Bath was the place for the upper class to gather for cultural events,  parties and meeting the right people.
"Persuasion"---this is a great movie!
It is the 1995, English version.

Back to reality---

Yesterday I had many errands to run.  One of them was to the laundromat in Bath to wash my "winter" comforter.
Now Bath, NY, is not a resort town in the Finger Lakes.  It has some not-so-great things about it.
But it has a rockin' LAUNDROMAT!

Modern, huge washers and dryers---clean facility.
Even the bathroom is clean and neat!

REAR ENTRANCE

This dryer is huge---I could put a lot more in it than my quilt.
Gotta wash that SALT right off'a my car.

NEXT STOP:  Car Wash
I'm not claustrophobic, I'm not claustrophobic . . .

TRACTOR SUPPLY STORE:
This teacher had a $500 donation for the children to plant a small
garden.  The kids were all over the store---so excited!  They had hoes and shovels and gloves and more!  You can see the kid-size, red shovels in the little girl's arms.  Everyone was getting a real kick out of it!

I stopped at the post office, bank, Salvation Army drop off, and finally:

Oh, yes.  Bath just recently got a Dollar Tree, the best of all
the dollar-type stores!

Right as I walk into the store!  Get thee behind me, SUGAR!
I will not say whether or not I purchased any  of these.

COMIC CORNER

This is from TOMMY.
I know for a fact it is not how he, personally, feels:)

AND. . .

This pretty much sums up Bath:

Have a good day!
