May is colder than APRIL! I got a sunburn last time I mowed for Nancy & Barry. This is me a few days ago!
Nancy is always lurking at the windows with her camera. Notice how I pulled my socks up over my jeans cause I was so cold! I look like a bonafide
REDNECK!
On April 28 Barry and Nancy treated Lucy, Barry's mom, to a birthday dinner at Bob Evans. Lacey and I tagged along:)
Lacey isn't teaching Zumba anymore. Instead, she lifts her "leftovers" as weights for muscle tone!
It's always a fun time with Lucy and Mike. Thanks for the fun evening, Barry!
The day before, I went to the local nursery to help Nancy pick out a hanging plant for Lucy.
The Lone Star State looks pretty good to me!
~Judy & Tommy take a two-day excursion~
Tommy's comments on the trip: *Please note that everything in red are my UNSOLICITED comments!!! Just couldn't help myself:0
. . . An overnight or two - to get me 'out' - so we tried Fredericksburg, TX, about 250 miles from here (3 1/2 hr. trip, but approx. 5 hours for us, stopping along the way and way back). IT WAS GREAT. Visited the WorldII Pacific War Museum...
We arrived there Wednesday afternoon and became acclimated - our Hampton (Yay, good choice---we love Hampton Inns!) was right in the middle of everything - and hit our first German restaurant. Fredericksburg is in what is called 'The Hill Country' so were hoping to see the bluebonnets etc., tho they had supposedly reached their peak a couple of weeks back However, we found them flourishing! Thursday we morning we took a 30 mile loop through rough ranch country... saw several kinds of flowers: blue bonnets, Indian Paintbrush, Indian Blanket, Primrose, and some blooming cactus. (Had it all to ourselves...) Fredericksburg was established by German immigrants in the 1840's... and has striven to preserve some of the culture: most notably German food. Had lunch at a German-American restaurant before visiting the Pacific War Museum - then, after I recovered, went to another authentic German restaurant for a late dinner. Left for home after a leisurely breakfast... left in time to spend an hour-or-so on our way out of town to visit the
'Wild Flower Seed Farm' where fields of poppies and tulips were in full bloom. Had a sandwich there and stopped in Marble Falls - about an hour out - to visit their highly recommended and well known 'Blue Bonnet Bakery'. Ended pulling thru the parking lot, taking a photo of the long line outside and kept on going.(HOW COULD YOU, TOMMY!) About an hour from home, in Hico, TX , we stopped at another highly hyped 'pie' place, The Koffee Kup (I love that name!) and picked up a pie to take home.(Now that's more like it!) (Had some for dinner; IT LIVED UP TO THE HYPE!) We did stop for ice cream at A Dairy Qeen both going and coming. (Dairy Queens abound in all the little towns you go thru in Texas, hence their slogan "Texas Stop Sign"... ALL THE ATTRACTIONS WERE RECOMMENDED AND WELL KNOWN AND ALL LIVED UP TO THEIR REPUTATIONS.
There are over 24 wineries in and about Fredericksburg; the LBJ National Park is nearby - includes his ranch, place of birth, the Texas 'Whitehouse' etc, ; Luckenbach is 8 miles away; etc., etc.
PS: Most have Hill Country or German names... we were hoping to get by one named "Fat Ass Ranch &Winery", but that'll have to keep 'til next time. (Look forward to seeing that one!!!)
Flower-peeping drive (Thursday)
Bluebonnet field and Dairy Queen stop.
Long lines at the Blue Bonnet Bakery!
Der Lindenbaum; On the way IN to the Pacific War museum.
YUM . . . looks good, guys! And it sure looks German, too!
. . . and a field of Texas longhorns on the way home.
You packed a lot into a short time---thanks for taking us along!

May 2, Cathy comes to visit.
Cathy and I spent the better part of the day visiting Nancy. She fixed us a "Taco Tuesday" lunch, complete with homemade cherry pie (topped with Hagen Das vanilla ice cream). Thanks for the fun time, Nancy!
I have a "Go Fund Me" page where you can go
to contribute for me to buy some new jeans that actually fit.

Time to refill the bird feeders at the Moon's. But "Tatoo" is singing a sad song.
Patty's cat, "Tiger," has a new home with Nancy & Barry and has
adjusted well. He loves to snuggle:)
