A Sure Sign of Spring

Many of us Allen sisters love coffee and, therefore, we love coffee mugs---mugs for every season and holiday.

As of today, I---like Nancy---am putting away my winter mugs.               Enough already!

***************
It's glam day for Nancy, and Barry is along for the ride.

A Saturday in Hornell with Renee.

Don't move, Barry.  I repeat:
DO.NOT.MOVE!!

Ready to watch the Oscars on TV in their PJ's.
Great job, Renee!

NEWS FLASH to the family:
Matt has been assigned to cover Bernie Sanders, aka Crazy Bernie, beginning
Friday, 2/26.  So if you are watching a Sander's news event on TV, watch for Matt!

First there was "Coloring Corner."  Then there was "Cartoon Corner."

Now, here is:
 "Catty Corner"

"Fluffernutter," above, "Fluffy," below,  are two outside cats who live at the Moon Motel.
They are both long-hair cats and require lots of brushing.
They are sooooo sweet.
Maybe they can go to Renee's salon, too:)

                                      Work it, "Fluffy," work it!

Preview of next post:  Tommy and Judy visit SanAntonio.

Lots more great photos to come.  Love this one!

Family Scramble. . .

. . . a mix of stuff happening in the family.

Photo Bomber!
Is this cool or what?  Nancy was taking a picture of the sun shining on the icy hill and got this!

                   Two-fer
Siamese Teddy grahams---yum.
(I am desperate for news.)
At least I'm not posting a corn flake that looks like Elvis!

Cartoon compliments of Tommy:

                                                               This Is Puzzling!
I was at N & B's Saturday keeping an eye on the critters while they had errands to run.
I walked into the living room and saw this.
I gave Nancy a 250-piece puzzle for Valentine's Day.
Hmm, looks like those five pieces  in the middle are as far as she has gotten.  Maybe I should have given her a wooden puzzle from
"Melissa and Doug!"  Ha!

                              Fun With The Grandkids

In January, Tommy and Judy watched the younger grandkids for the day.  Nothing like getting creative by making your own individual pizzas.  Who is eating pineapple pizza?
  Looks like a great time!

(Front:  Alison's and Lindsay's youngest boys, and Alison's daughter with Grandpa.

I got this picture in my email just now---Sunday
dinner at Nancy's.  My mouth is watering.
Lacey was there and took the pic
Hey Lacey, where is my doggie bag!!

Movie Time
A reenactment of this Oprah clip:

Good job!  Glad you didn't choke on that garlic bread during the filming, HA!

That's it for now.  More pics in a few days.

Big Basketball Night

DUKE vs NORTH CAROLINA!  Just two more hours!
Can MARCH MADNESS be far off!!?

Our "Big Storm"

The biggest storm of the winter here in the Finger Lakes Region.
Lots of rain that turned to ice and then to snow.

A day to hunker down inside.

"ICE IS NOT NICE"
That is what Nancy said when she sent me pictures the day of the storm

I love this picture of the hill behind Nancy and Barry's home.
A winter wonderland.

For those of you who love Downton Abbey,
you will love this Masterpiece series:

Season 1 aired last fall and season 2 will begin some time this fall.
Cathy and I have major crushes on Ross Poldark!

Valentine's Weekend

CABIN FEVER - short post

I will get out to walk in the winter and it actually is invigorating . . . BUT not
when the temps are in the single digits!

Saturday I broke out my favorite DVD for emergencies:
The Lord of The Rings.

Samwise is my favorite character.

Next, I check the mail.  Jackpot!  My new Wegmans card arrived.
I must have had my original card for well over 25 years and it literally died.  Oh happy day.

I am still bored.  I go online and find a recipe for cookies and bake them.  Then I bundle up, brave the walk to my car and head for the brand new Dollar Tree store just a couple of blocks away.  I found a holiday bag to put the freshly-baked cookies into and deliver to Nancy and Barry on Sunday.

Barry brought Nancy flowers:)  What a guy!

Lastly . . .

Tommy and Judy celebrate Shrove Tuesday with a traditional pancake supper.  Great pic and so nice that T & J have family close by!

Happy Monday:)

Brrr!

First Really Cold Weather Is  Here.

We have nothing to complain about, but this arctic air is a bit of a shock!

Actually, I enjoy a cup of steaming hot water now and then.  I drink lots of coffee,  so this warms me up without having more caffeine.

Last Sunday Nancy, Lacey and Barry went to church with me.

It was nice to have them there.

C O L O R I N G   C O R N E R

Nancy just finished this picture of Dumbledore holding Harry Potter.  It is very intricate.  Great job!

On the other hand, my artistic taste gravitates to the clean and simple lines of this picture.

(Easier to color, too---ha)!  You really didn't buy all that malarkey, right?

***********

Cathy is basking in the sun and 80-degree temps.
She is enjoying her grand dogs and is also learning
to use her new iPhone.

She is likely laughing at our single-digit temps this weekend!

Oldies But Goodies
Nurse Nancy

Christmas Party at Patty's house.

I took part in a JDRF walk for Gregory Mayo.
Gregory and Patrick were cute little tykes back then!

"An anxious heart weighs a man down, but a kind word cheers him up."
      Proverbs 12:25  NIV

I like to think that the Lenten season is not all about giving up something; it's about making a real effort to live our daily lives as God, in His word, would have us do.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Super Weekend!

Super Bowl with a story-book ending!
The family seems to agree!

I was going nuts wondering why the Broncos didn't try to advance the ball the last couple of plays.  They trusted in their defense and they were right!

Andrew, my grandson, went all out for Denver!

Bill has been a loyal Broncos fan all along!

Cathy and Matt have the Bronco gear on---I have such a smart family:)

Checking In With Patty

Nancy and I went to Hornell Wegmans and
then met Patty at the Country Kitchen for lunch.

PAY BACK!  Oh yes, pals.   Nancy surprised ME  taking a picture a number of years ago.  It's a long story, but I finally got her back!!!

Looking good!  Patty is always dressed perfectly.  Nancy and I are the tee shirt ladies.

A TRIP DOWN MEMORY LANE

Barb (Allen) Arthur sent this to Nancy recently.

Well, the above picture from The Canisteo Times got me thinking.
I spent some time online looking for pages from that newspaper.
What I found was limited and I was not able to copy what I found and paste it to "my pictures" or docs.  I ended up using my iPad to take the picture that was up on my laptop screen.  So I hope you find these readable!

My first find:
I did not print this because of the article itself---it's the HEADLINE!  Really, can you imagine writing "scalped" in this politically-correct age!?  It shows how utterly ridiculous we have become.  Funny, too.

Not sure of the date---I don't recognize any names.

Find #2:
Life was so exciting back in the day!  Wow, you found out what your neighbor was doing in the local paper!  No need for gossiping!

June 14, 1956 - There are TWO people mentioned that all of you (sibs) know!
Find them---some of you may know even more.

Find #3:
Are you ready for some FOOTBALL?
Looks like this game was a BIG deal!
September 1950---CCS Football
Billy, did we win???

Lastly:
Gosh, I loved going to this store.  Getting a popsicle was a major deal!  I remember the wood floor, too.

I remember licking those stamps and putting them into the book for Mom.

Have a great week everyone!
