Mission Accomplished!

I leave for Germany tomorrow morning, so this will be short and sweet.

Tommy's "Flat Sister" project was a great success.  Tommy and Judy drove to Tulsa about a week ago to surprise
Aunt Catherine/Sister S.

Sister closed her eyes and opened them to a surprise---as you can see, she was totally stunned!!

The other Sisters came to see what the excitement was all about, and they all laughed and laughed.  Maybe they secretly thought that "one" Sister Scholastica was more than enough, but, in their charity, they did not say it.    KIDDING!!!

 Seeing Double!!!

Tommy gave Sister the book he made from all the photos taken with "Flat Sister."  His theme for the book was "Flat Sister's" journey.  Below is the first page that tells how "Flat Sister" came to be.  I will be sharing this book with many of you when I see you in the near future.  I know you will get a big kick out of it.
Great job, Tommy!!!
Thanks to ALL who were willing to pose with our dear Aunt Catherine!!

Tommy and Judy spared no time or effort, even driving to a hospital ER in Fort Worth, parking in the lot, and them dragging out FS for a "photo shoot!"
This is just a taste of the book.

Timmy in a caravan of trucks that drove from Mississippi to Baton Rouge to deliver much-needed equipment to help in the flood recovery.  This is an ongoing mission and will take a very long time to recover from.

Any help you can give---praying, donations, or going to help---would mean so much!!  If only I were younger and stronger (sigh).

Cleaning Out

Barry went on a business trip to Kansas City for three days last week.  I stayed with Nancy to help out.  She had noticed that Barry's "work" sneakers were in bad shape.  Soooo, we took matters into our own hands.
While the "cat's away. . . "   We trashed the sneakers and bought him a new pair (actually N bought them).  I love the black and neon green.  Barry was flat out pooped when he returned home; he seemed to be pleased with his new sneakers (or was he just too tired out to protest!!!)?  Ha!    Hey, I just noticed NO HAT in this pic!  That is a rarity!!!!

Bath Fair - late August
Cathy and Amy (Tom's wife) took Kiera to the fair.  The heat made Cathy sick, but she made it through so Kiera could have a good time.  Below:  Kiera with the goats and with Amy as a potato head.  Kiera's blue tongue due to a blue slush.

This photo may have been posted on FB, but just in case you did not see it----Tommy & Judy celebrating Judy's 75th birthday in TN with Judy's sister and brother-in-law just this past week.

Finally, Nancy enjoying a PEACH/RASPBERRY smoothie at
the Cheesecake Factory in Rochester on August 18.  It looks very, very delish!

That is all for now.  No time to proof read, so deal with the errors, ha!!!!  xo to all, Cindy

Hi Everyone

I've been traveling and basically busy with my "secret mission" for Tommy (which will be revealed in this upcoming week of 8/15).

I, like many, feel a virtual prisoner inside today due to the excessive heat.  I turned on my Pandora radio and am enjoying classical music for the first time in a long, long while.  I forgot how much I love it!  FYI, Carol, Cathy, Timmy and myself all played in the orchestra---cello, french horn, trumpet and viola respectively.

One way to keep cool is to go to WEGMAN'S.
Nancy is at the Hornell store with me a couple of weeks ago.

On my way to Steve's a week ago, I stopped in for a coffee break at Carol Buffum's.  I try to do that every time I go to NJ.  Carol took this selfie of us on her front porch right before I left.
Thanks for the coffee refill, Carol!

*********

In case you don't feel old already, here is a reality check.

Steve texted this to me.  The hotel lobby in Denver had an old typewriter and he typed a note on it.  Darn, I had a picture of it but lost it.  Anyway, kids today have no idea!

Andrew and me at Dilly's in New Hope, PA.

Steve in Boulder, CO.  I held down the fort with Andrew and the dogs.  We watched the Olympics and had a great time!

******
I had given Nancy a Keuka Lake tee for her birthday but it didn't fit.  She returned it for this one, and I like it better than the one I picked out.  AND, she got herself another hat!  Very nice.

***********
For us Allen sibs, the photo below is a bit depressing.  Nancy, Barry and I drove by the REAGAN Homestead about three weeks ago.  The classic Reagan sign by the mailbox was broken (it used to have two deer and trees on the top) and it had been painted silver (used to be black wrought iron color).  Weeds were two+ feet high all around it.

That being said and to be fair,  the reality is that no one lives there and it is a working farm and hunting lodge, so who could take  all the time necessary to keep it as it once was?  You can't go home again, the saying goes---so true.
NOW

2008

Notice the deer and pine trees on the sign and the blooming peonies and trees.

Timmy and I have been texting saying how bored we are being stuck inside.  Kerry took this pic of Timmy eating lunch while watching the Olympics.  It looks like he's eating beans---oh my.

On another note, thank God Timmy and Kerry are safe from all the awful flooding going on in Louisiana!
Perfect napping weather.

Time to end this boring post!

Stay cool!!!

As local celeb (Rochester) Bob Lonsberry says, I'll try to
do better next time!!
