Heat Wave

I've been in NJ for over a week, and it has been HOT!

I stopped by Johnson City on my way here.  It just happened to be Carol and Jimmy's anniversary.  Carol posted a pic on FB, but I took another one for my blog.

The Buffum kittys.
 TWO-TON TONY---err, I mean "MISTY."
 "SWIMMER"

Happy belated anniversary, Carol & Jimmy!

Today, May 31, is my birthday and I woke up to a surprise!

A beautiful day  . . .

. . . and birthday wishes complete with gifts.  Wow!
I am not used to this special treatment, but I like it:)
Thanks Claire, Steve, Andrew and everyone else for
the good wishes!

Steve has a new hobby---wine.  These will not be ready to enjoy for a number of years.

CONGRATULATIONS, LACEY!
Ten years' service as a "Clinical Coding Specialist"
at
Ira Davenport Hospital, Bath, NY!!!

Notes from LACEY:
-Recognition dinner is for people with half decade anniversaries (5,10,15,20,25, etc)

-This is the same hospital that Mom worked at for 25 years

-The picture is of me and another woman who was celebrating her 10 year anniversary

-They gave me 2 roses (each rose is for 5 years of service) and a catalog to pick an anniversary gift from. I chose a cutlery set for cooking and to ward off zombies. I've also attached a picture of one of the gifts Mom chose when she worked at the hospital- a breadbox that she still uses today!

- Dinner was catered by the same people who catered/own the place where we had Mother's Day brunch

Here is the wikipedia for the winery the event was held at: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pleasant_Valley_Wine_Company

I wore white pants to church this past Sunday.  I know
the old rules don't apply these days, but somehow
I just can't wear white pants until Memorial Day!  How about YOU?

**********
Mary Ann's rhubarb plants are yielding fruit!  I am so jealous!!!

Kenny stopped by to see Mary Ann (see her in the background).  I know nothing about cars,
but this one looks pretty darn COOL!

There's a LOT going on in SAVONA!

The gorgeous PHLOX are in bloom!
Remembering our furry friends with love and fond memories.

The Charley Brown tree made it through the winter!!!

A refreshingl treat on Memorial Day weekend.

N & B stopped by Lacey's on the holiday weekend and
were greeted by Lacey's cat, "Swim-swim."

Still in shock . . .

. . . and can't get over how great Timmy looks
with his new haircut!

Thanks to Brett for stopping by to place flowers on Mom's and Daddy's grave this past weekend.

and finally---
Crazy Bernie is in good hands.

This was on Fox News and other outlets this a.m.   Many
of you have seen it, but maybe some have not.
Cathy's son, our Nephew, Matt doing his job.*Cathy said he had to slam a guy down and cuff him, among others.

A verse that is perfect for my birthday (and yours!).

"Teach us to realize the brevity of life, so that we may grow in wisdom."   Psalms 90:12

Have a great week!(This is a rushed post, so feel free to let me know of all my errors! LOL)

MAY WEDDING & BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS

Because I will be out of town on my birthday, my sisters (and niece) gave me an early birthday luncheon on May 16.  (Mary Ann has a severe knee injury and could not attend.  Get well, Mary Ann.  We missed you!)

. . . at Marino's in Hornell!

A lovely scarf from Renee.

NANCY is always a jokester!  Cindy's "Bargain BAG" was a hit.
I got items that were on rock-bottom mark down. . .

. . . like:
An "Avengers - Age of Ultron" selfie stick, made by Marvel; a
HELLO KITTY "grab & go" coloring pack with STICKERS!;
and a miniature puzzle, sure to drive one crazy, blind or both!

Nancy's card had sound and motion---we all got a big kick out of it!

Movie clip below:

Another funny card from Cathy:
I bet this guy is registered on
"FarmersOnly.com"!

Thank you, Patty, for the froggie watering can light, complete with a dragon fly!

Lacey was there in spirit.  Thanks for your thoughtful gift and card, Lacey!

The gift bag was a decoy, ha.

Sharing a laugh.

In the end, it's all about being with those we love.  We are so blessed as a family.  We truly care for each other and support each other.   Special times like this are such a joy at this stage of our lives!

On the way home, Nancy and I stopped in at Hornell's newest coffee shop,
"Wake Up and Smell the Coffee."  It is like a small-town Starbucks---specialty coffees, beverages and baked items.  We love supporting local businesses.

RACHEL AND BILL - May 14, 2016
It was a happy day!

Seated in the tent awaiting the bride.

At three o'clock, it began pouring rain!  The tent did leak
in places, which made the day one we won't ever forget!
The bride took it all in stride, looking absolutely lovely.

When the family gets together, there is always clowning around!

Mom taught you better, Nancy! LOL

Matt and his new bride came from California.
He will soon be back on the trail with "crazy Bernie!"

Rachel has served in the U.S. Navy for eight years.

Roy is as handsome as ever!

The wedding and reception were held at the Canisteo AMERICAN LEGION.

They say rain is good luck on your wedding day.  We wish Rachel
and Bill all the best!

              And lastly,

Andrew and Allison's son, Gregory, at his Junior Prom (how time flies).  This is my favorite picture.
