Flowers of Spring

Judy's sister and brother-in-law left for Tennessee after visiting
T & J for three days.

Those of you who play in the Allen Family March Madness
tourney will recognize Fred and Marilyn from their participation
in the tournament for many years.  I still think of them
as Volvo Fred and Nurse Marilyn
(their tournament names a few years
back).

After their guests left, it was time to "smell the roses":

Presently, we don't have much in the way of flowers here in Western NYS.  So when Tommy sent these pictures today, it was like a breath of spring.

In Texas, tours of the Bluebonnet trails are an annual event and very popular.  Judy took this tour and the pictures are wonderful.

Don't you wish you could step right into this scene?
Judy and Tommy look great.

The colors are wonderful.  Thanks for sharing, T & J!

Helping the Helpless

The Finger Lakes SPCA is located right here in Bath, NY.
It is housed in a very humble facility . . . old, cramped and, frankly, depressing.
Thankfully, due to a capital campaign and matching grant, a new facility is under construction right now.

The success of this endeavor has been helped along by a
little book:

The letter "y" in Willy is the shape of Keuka Lake

Click on this link to hear the story of this book and the FLSPCA.

Partial view of what the new facility will look like.

Today, Friday, Nancy picked me up and we drove the short distance to the FLSPCA to drop off our garbage bags full of refundable bottles and cans, one way they raise money.
This is one of the volunteers who sorts the cans and bottles . . .
you have to be dedicated to do this job.

Then Nancy and I went inside to give our donations and
get our very own book.

Come on, Nancy.  You can add at least two more zeros!

Giving is always better than receiving, although we were so happy to
have our book!

Have a great weekend!

    2. Very nice post! Judy could play the part of Bella Swan in "Twilight: The Golden Years", lol! (She could be Bella in the meadow, waiting for Edward.) Of course, if you haven't seen "Twilight", you won't know what I'm talking about! Carol B.
