Stay-cation

For ME. . . sort of.  I stayed in the area, but got out of my home.

I have been pet sitting for Nancy and Barry for five days while they vacation at a cottage on Keuka Lake.  The weather has been perfect for them.
This was their first day:

They arrived mid-afternoon on Monday, which was a cool day.

Early Tuesday morning was brisk---COFFEE TIME!
                                                                        Don't back up!
 Second cup . . .
. . . and it warmed up nicely by the time Nancy was on her third cup!

News Flash:I just got these pictures from their four other days of gorgeous weather on Keuka Lake.

Brett helped Barry getting the boat out.

Relaxing---that's what it's all about.

They ate out most evenings at places on the lake and in Hammondsport.  Nancy is admiring the flowers at the Lakeside Restaurant.
                                                           Daily visitors

                                                          Sea-Dooing (Barry and Lacey)

Christi with her sister-in-law's adorable dog.
                                                                    Giant Marshmallows
Jim (Christi's husband) Lacey, Debbie (Jim's sister), Barry, and Connor, Christi's son.

All good things must come to an end.  They need to do this more often!

The Big 4-0!

Andrew Mayo celebrated 40 the first week of June.
He was out of town on his birthday, so Allison surprised him with a
special gift:

"The gift he was opening was a collection of cards and letters that people had sent for him.  I got in touch with a lot of people who have been important parts of Andy's life over the last 40 years and asked them to send a card or a note.  He got over 60 cards and letters!  It took him hours to read them!  They came in from all the US and even from England, Canada and South Korea!  A few of them brought tears to his eyes, like the one from our exchange student thanking Andy for changing the course of his life and the one from his 3rd grade teacher, who also had Brendan in 2nd grade (in different school districts!)"  Allison

A small get together before he left:
Erin and Cathy in center.

Jeff and Anne sent Andrew some goodies from Germany.
                                                 Gregory

Another special event for the Mayos:
I lost the details, but I believe this is Jasmine's 8th grade semi-formal.  She looks lovely (love the hair)!

GRANDCHILDREN HAPPENINGS

Mary Ann's grandson, Christopher, (Deborah's youngest) graduated from McQuaid High School.  What a busy month!

Catherine, my granddaughter, having a splashing good time in Germany, on a weekend outing with classmates and their parents.  The weather did not slow her down!

This is a nice, recent picture of Timmy's son, Tim Jr., with his wife, Amanda, and children.  They are celebrating one of the kid's birthdays..

Speaking of NJ, my grandson, Andrew, is following in his Dad's steps playing lacrosse.  Remember when you got your first uniform---whether it was for cheerleading, football, baseball, soccer or whatever?  It is so exciting.  Andrew wore his shirt a lot the next few days!

Here he is with his shooting shirt on playing Monopoly with me.  In this game he chose the "Baltic Avenue" strategy.  Even with hotels, I never landed on them and he lost, ha!  However, he won the next game by killing me with all four railroads.  Lots of fun!

Andrew (right) at Lehigh, PA, lacrosse tournament yesterday.  He plays for the New Jersey TURNPIKE travel team.

I took this photo on Tuesday morning, 6/7, before we all left for Andrew's Lower School closing program.

Cathy and Jim's granddaughter, Kiera, not only dances, but also plays softball:
Kiera, left, with teammates---not letting the rain get them down!

The dance school is ready to make a splash at their recital.  (Kiera second from left in second row).

Remember "Stupid Cupid" by Connie Francis?  This is the song Kiera danced to in her solo.  Great to see the good things all these kids are doing.

One last photo of Kiera at her Aunt Patty's.  Patty let her use some of her makeup, as Cathy had stopped by on her way to Keira's dress rehearsal.

Erin, Cathy's daughter had yet another wedding to attend yesterday.
She got her hair done in ringlets---so cute with her sailing dress.
Erin just finished her first year teaching at Addison Central School as a first grade teacher.  Congrats, Erin!

SAD NEWS
The Butterfly bush I pruned back for Nancy this past spring died!
Nancy took it well, although Barry had to dig it up and plant a new one.  (above)

Nancy sent me this photo.  Maybe she didn't take it so well after all!

Red, white and blue on Nancy's porch.

68th Birthday Dinner
. . . at a wonderful, small Italian restaurant.  Thanks, again, Steve and Claire!

Nancy loves to torment me with my favorite flavor from Dean's:
vanilla frozen yogurt with an orange swirl.  She sent this to me while I was in NJ.

Finally, it is strawberry picking season here.  Andrew Mayo and his son, Brendan, drove to Arkport and picked berries at a local berry patch.
Nancy and Barry brought me some from the same place.  Only about three more weeks in the season,  but with the hot weather it may be even shorter:(

I picked berries for many years, but I can't seem to get up now once I pick---ha!  Blueberries and raspberries I can still do, as you stand picking them.

Have a great week!
