JUNE

COW POOP
June is cool---literally.  Summer has taken a vacation here in NYS.  Not much news from the kinfolk.  Tommy is doing well and we are all very thankful for that!  Please send news and photos!

On the evening of June 3, the black bear made a return visit to the Moon's bird feeders.

Perhaps the stationary feeder will have to be replaced with one they can bring in during the night.
Obviously, Mr. Bear has this stop marked on his rounds---his notation says:  "suckers!"

On May 31, I enjoyed a birthday lunch with four of my sisters, plus Mary Ann's granddaughter, Veronica, and one of Nancy's old high school pals.

Deborah's son, Michael, graduated from Canisus College recently.  The ceremony was  held at the University of Buffalo.
Michael was a history major (graduating cum laude).  He is enrolled in Syracuse University's School of Information and Library Science this fall.  Congrats!!

What a sight!
Mary Ann and Lin found this fawn in their flower garden last week---and they live in the city.  How amazing!

~ Kerry's Gift of Love ~
Kerry did this drawing of "Friday" for Nancy and Barry.  For the model, she used a picture taken of "Friday" a few years ago in the woods.  Timmy & Kerry's cat, "Geisha" seems to approve of the finished product.  The portrait arrived safely at the Moon residence and looks wonderful.

Carol & Jimmy's granddaughter, Allison, enjoys her first birthday cake and a walk in the park with Grandma and Grandpa.

Carol has a new cat, "Emmett."  I asked her to send a picture.  She include photos of her other cats, so here is the kitty cat gallery!

"Emmett"

"Swimmer" is not phased by a new cat, as long as he can keep his favorite spots.

and "Tigerlily" is just curled up ignoring everyone and everything!

Tommy sent this to me.  Can you believe that it reminded him of me?!  Really:)

Snake in the Grass House!!!!

I had a traumatic afternoon on June 6th.  I was going down to the basement to do laundry when something moved on the floor.
A SNAKE!!!  I screamed bloody murder!!!!
This is our third summer here and I see garter/grass snake outside once in a while, but never in our basement.  The door was left open a few weeks ago so I'm hoping that is how he got in.  Seeing Lew hurt his leg and cannot move quickly, Barry and Nancy came over ready to help got the snake out (or I would never sleep).
I/we thought it could take a while to find the critter with all the junk around.  However, as Nancy and Barry came down into the basement to get to work, I went to open the basement door and there it was; I let out with another
 S - C - R - E - A - M!!!!!
The snake had moved since I last saw it.  Barry was on that snake quicker than lightening, scooped it up and carried it down the yard, across the stream and into the woods.  HALLELUJAH!
Thank you, Barry.
(Nancy wanted a picture but I yelled---get it out of here!  So she got just this one pic that she took through the window.  The critter is in Barry's right hand.)

Barry extended the fenced-in portion of the yard and the birds love perching on it.  It is rare to see bluebirds up close, so these two were a treat for Nancy.
The Doves are pretty common, but still fun to see.

That's it!
